All nations have flags to colorfully symbolize national honor. The American Flag, our "Stars & Stripes" woven in striking red, white, and blue, seems to stand out among national flags. It is artistically different, and especially unique among honor symbols. I am unaware of any nation sacrificing more of its wealth and people on behalf of others in the world community, especially in sending brave men into foreign wars to protect oppressed populations of other lands. I believe the record of Americans dying for others in such conflicts is unequaled. Our Constitution calls for defense of homeland, the tradition of most nations. Few governments, families, and men asked so much and gave so much precious life for the brotherhood of man under attack, suffering, or languishing elsewhere.
The Flag Day Banner offered on this commemorative blog might be regarded as the Invisible Side of our American Flag, the Hidden Flag. It is a collage of life we stand for, as a people under God. And, it is the life offered all nations. It is the kind of life many Americans temporarily gave up to stand beside others in life-threatening distress. It is the life permanently surrendered by too many Americans when they fell, or suffered debilitation.
Fly the flag today for matchless sacred honor. Never forget the precious lives now asleep and hidden in the Lord, surely remembered by Him (Psalm:116:15). But, do not let it be a tear-soaked cloth. Under God, Americans have a wonderful life to offer the world, a Kingdom to come, a paradise to share. Reflect on the fully peaceful days of Heaven on Earth glimpsed on that Hidden Side of the Star-Spangled Banner, and purpose to bring it forward, before the conflicts erupt, while it is still day. The Hidden Side of the American Flag can fly in victory over every land, as life in Christ establishes there, and all men are free.
